If anyone sees this - I have some beautiful gold silkies that I hatched and reared, I've chosen some to keep, but have some to sell. I put them for sale for £20 (which was recommended from the lady I got the eggs from) but I am having no joy. What price should silkie pullets be?
Thankyou in advance Very Happy

You can't sex a Silkie until it's about 15-20 weeks. Rolling Eyes
It took me ages to find out what sex my silkies were and most of them have been hens Wink

But i've had a few nice cockerels and i sold them. Smile

I have always understood Silkies were bantams!! Now I learn that they aren't all. How big are the 'other' ones. I have 3, all about 12/14 inches high, are they full size? or bantams.

Yes i have 3 large ones but they say you can get tiny ones about 6-7 inches high.

If it crows it's a cockerel, if it lays eggs it's a hen. Laughing Laughing Sorry couldn't resist. Embarassed Laughing

I was convinced one of my two was a cockerel right until there were undeniably two eggs a day!

now you see thats where your wrong my friend has a hen (definately a hen it lays eggs) however its slightly gender confused seems to crow as well ^^'

My own hen displays behaviours of a cockeral though luckily she does not crow.

Hi

I have found my blue silkie hen turned out to be a cockrel!! now Im looking for a hen to go with him. I already have a mini sussex & Black Pekin who im sure Ill get some chicks from next year but id like to get some pure breed silkies - so if anyone has a young hen silkie for sale Id love to know as Ive found it really hard to get one.

Hello

I'm new at this forum.

From Denmark.

I breed large silk fowl, in white, black, blue, yellow, with and without a beard.
Have rear silky fowls in 27 years and exhibited as long.
