Just heard an almighty racket in the garden. So I went to investigate. One of the girls had a nice juicy looking slug in her beak and all the rest are chasing her around the pen Laughing

At least they'll get a bit more exercise Laughing

Yea mine too, I have to sling them out of the feed hopper or they won't eat the food because there's a slug in it.

1st time I've seen them go for one, they have been leaving them alone. Maybe now they are getting bigger, they fancy the odd fresh bait Very Happy

Could be. Mine are all pretty young birds, and the slugs in their run after its rained are mega huge, so I dont think they'd manage to swallow one if they tried.

Had a rooster once that snatched a mouse away from one of my cats and threw his head back and gobbled it down whole... eeuuwwwwww

Mine eat slugs, snails, beetles, all manner of creepy crawlies I don't know the names of. I saw a frog hopping for its life the other evening! I just make sure I worm them properly at the appropriate intervals! Rolling Eyes

mine eat anything that moves and pinch the fresh catch off each other - what a fuss it causes. does this cause worms then?

Not necessarily, it's just that slugs and snails can be hosts to all sorts of parasites. So I play safe!
