Oooh - photos? I love beads - no idea what to do with them, but glass beads are lovely (I used to collect marbles too!) |

| Thank you. Im going to see if I can make a chicken bead now lol. I've seen yellow duck ones which evidently are lucky. Its very addictive tho and not something to take up unless you never want to do anything else ever again lol. |

What a wonderful talent. You have some beautiful pieces. I especially love the Squiggle Heart necklace in the Signature Collection. If you ever do one in either Turquoise or an Amber colour, please let me know....
I am very much like Jaydee, and its like sweets in a sweet shop, not knowing what to get, there's too many. |

What beautiful beads!!
How on earth to you go about making beads from scratch? I just cannot fathom "how to" at all!
Very clever, very inspiring. |

You are all too lovely. You start with glass rods or wine bottles or jam jars or anything really though glass rods are easiest to work with and what most of us use. I have a torch, a little like a plumbers torch which is attatched to a big tank of propane, you melt the glass and wrap it around a mandrel which is basically a welding rod dipped in clay slip. When you've wound the melted glass around the rod and played about with it a bit to get different colours etc you put it into a kiln to anneal it then take it off the mandrel and there you go. Well thats basically it. Its terribly addictive and some of the bigger beads take an hour to make.
I did a stall at our church fair yesterday which was fab. More money for more chickens |
