|
|
Hi
I have decided on which birds to get - either 2 orpingtons , 1 Cream legbar and a hybrid - probably a black rock or an Isa Brown - or 3 orps and a hybrid .
I think the Orps I can get from Tonbridge - I've heard Priscilla Middleton is very good and is only about an hour away - do I just phone up and ask what is available ?
What other questions do I need to ask ?
I am so nervous / excited !
TIA

I just went and loooked and my questions came as I was looking. Orps are lovely, what colour will you get? Don't know where you can get your other birds from. When will you go and get them?? |

I'm thinking three different colours of orp and probably the Isa brown as I can literally get them from up the road and they are really sweet
It says in her advert in PP that she has ALLcolours of orp and I read somewhere that she had been breeding the lavender ones - though if she is selling them or not yet I'm unsure .
As to when I get them I'm hoping in about a week and a half
would an hour's journey be too much for chickens ?

Mine came from a place about 1.15 hours away, as long as they have plenty of ventilation and room in their boxes they'll be fine. Lavender sounds lovely, I guess similar but lighter than my blue's
Have your sorted out your perches and how to attch your run now?

yup - going to do it over the weekend - My Mum is going to the timber yard for something else so will get me the 2x2 and Mark has gone into town so will hopefully remember to get me the wood preservative
The lavender
I remember now - got the piccie from feathersite - says Priscilla Middleton developed them
What should birds be vaccinated against ? (if anything) |

I rather like the splashes as well - but not sure if you can deliberately breed them
We'll see what she has ! |

How exciting Heather!!
I was going to get an Orp but as mine have the run of the garden I was told not to as their poosies are enormous!! Nanny do you find that they are larger than normal ( not the birds size!!).
I need to find a friend for Ethel ( my Marran) as Alice is Al ( more crowing today), any suggestions? I like your blue one nanny.

Mine are Bantams and I don't notice any difference in poo size
You could come and get Muppet quickly, whilst Knobby's in Greece |

Do not be afraid NannyP I would stand up for you we could sort Knobby out (but I think if it's a free for all while Knobbys away and I stand up for you I'd have to have the Scruffy Pingu, thats not black male is it? |

Ohh Nanny P what a great idea!!!! she is so cute, she would fit in nicely and I would look after her so well.
( don't tell Knobby, I'll just come down quietly and pinch her, hehehe) |

I finally got an answer - she will have some available at the end of July - 20 days !!!! I'm not sure I can wait that long
Maybe I will get 2 hybrids and 2 orps instead of 3 - but then again I really love them so a difficult decision
My Mum got the perch for me - I gave her instructions to get 2x2 with rounded edges if poss - but she got a 2 inch diameter totally round thing - will this be ok can the birds grip on it - bless her she was probably thinking of when we had a budgie and that the principle was the same |
