Polish arecertainly one of my Faves! They become so tame!!!! Mine like to sit on your shoulder and get kisses lol We also have a baby Silver Laced Cock who is soooooooo Cheeky! lol He runs to you grabbing your hand lol and then climbing on my wrist cause he needs fuss.
They are fantastic for children not just in looks but in how friendly they are.
Our first was just a whime buy at auction, our White Crested Cock 'Spider'. But since then we have another cock and 4 hens (3 Chamois Frizzles, 1 White Crested). Certainly a breed we now adore! |

I am totally addicted to Polands, my favorites are definatly frizzles.
I have White crested blacks, creoles, gold laced, chamois in straight and frizzles, self white, straight and frizzle and this year have been very lucky and have aquired a white crested black frizzle, straight feathered but with frizzle gene white crested cuckoo, frizzled and straight silver laced and straight self blues/splash !!!!! |

depends on the individual rather then the breed some have louder crows then others but so long as they are kept free range or housed on grass Polands usually stay quiet. Polands value space but beware their crests means that they can't see above them but they can see straight a head depending how big their crest is ^_^ |

|
|
Hi im new to this website (which is a real find for a newbie like me!!)
I have 7 polish chickens and have learnt so much lately but still have so much to learn, especially about this breed.
I dont know what they are called but i will describe my girls!
I have 4 brown and gold ones.
2 ginger ones where one has lifted feathers which i think is called a chamois frizzled poland pullet??
the other ginger one i think is a chamois poland pullet?
and a black and white one with a long neck and her head feathers stick up a lot
sorry im not very educated on my girls but I LOVE THEM!
would love any tips or advice on how to keep them happy and healthy ie feeding housing or anything u can think of
Do they lay eggs this time of year, i adopted them 2 weeks ago and no sign of eggs, im not to bothered as just like them as fun to watch etc, iv heard they dont lay as good is this true?
some lovely looking chickens so cute!
nenee
cheers |

Polands are much easier to look after then people might think but owners tend to fuss over them.
They have amazing personalities and provided you keep handling them and sitting amongst them they will be pleased to see you every time you visit, as soon as they hear the door open mine comming running up the run and jump about excittedly o.0
If their crests look a mess sometimes don't worry its normal and they sort themselves out, I wouldn't feed them anything too moist or too gooy as it will become stuck in the crests.
They are fine being outside in a run at this time fo the year and extremely hardy. Around this time of year they don't lay eggs the next time they start will be Feb/March though this may vary between ndividuals.
I did have three Polands but sadly one was taken by a fox and ive not found a replacement since 0.o I have a Chamois and a Chamoirs/self white bantam cross.
They make wonderfull companions and have terrific personalities. |

Thats so true! I love my girls, but had a big shock today, iv been saying for a few days the black and white one looks different and acts different and when i was worming them yesterday I said to my hubby that she looks like a cockerel, and low and behold we were woken to a COCK A DOODLE DO!!! He also strutted around the run and the other girls stayed in the run, so i think we now have a cockerel
we will have to give it to a loving home as my neighbours wont be happy, any ideas or do you know anyone who would love a lovely little fella with great personallity?
cheers
