I have just managed to tip the contents of the bag of chick crumbs into a bucket of dirty water and can't get out to get some more.
I have growers pellets, wheat, crushed maize, oyster shell, grit available, if I grind these all together in the coffee grinder would it be OK as a substitute just for tonight/tomorrow morning until I can get out to get some more crumbs?

Whizz up the growers pellets a bit - they'll be fine.

I would soak some of the growers in warm water untill soft, they love that.

Thanks for the help they have been merrily pecking away at the ground growers and cheeping away quite happily. I will try them with the soaked pellets a bit later. Always useful to know what can be given in an emergency.

Oatmeal is good if you haven't got any chick crumb. The medium or fine ground. It's full of goodness.
