I was woken to what was sounded like a very new Cockadoodledoo!!

I have thought Alice was Al for a good 6 weeks now but she keeps clucking and sounding very hen like ( just looks like a rooster), but this morning at 4.40 I got woken up. You're right Jaydee it sounded like a rusty door.

I didn't see the neighbours hanging out of their windows but maybe Al will try again today to confirm it. I did check to see if it was her first egg. Fingers crossed it was. It wasn't.

Just thought I would share this with you, as I know some of you knew I had my suspicions!

I take it that roos are not a welcomed sight in your neighborhood. Confused Sorry you are woken up so early, but isn't it a cool way to wake up....by the sound of the first crow? Smile

Yeah Deb,
He was really funny, I woke smiling, thinking I know what that is Very Happy . Like a kid trying to get it right and it was really was pathetic! I have warned all the neighbours that I think it is a Roo, but wanted crowing confirmation first. They won't like me having one and the council won't let me.

I don't know whether to wait for a bit before I ring the lady where I got him ( She said she would take any roosters back), as you know I go home in two weeks, not sure I want to be introducing a new hen now but don't want to dispatch of him either.

OH wants to fatten him up. At what age are they fat enough. That pic above is about two weeks old.

Can't help you with that question. We never roast our layers. We buy cornish cross chicks for butchering. Those we wait till they are about 12-16 weeks old and then do the nasty deed. Sad
