| Are you going to let her sit then? If yes, what are you going to put under her? |

| Would like to hear from anyone keeping Speckledys about how long they lay for and if they would be easy for first-time chicken keepers - and anything else about them. A friend is getting some as day-olds and is hoping to interest us in taking some when they've brought them onto POL - was planning to get Black Rocks on the hybrid side - and otherwise some pure breeds - but wondered how Speckledys compare. |

| I have 6 speckledys and they are really tame and lay lots and lots of eggs, only 18mths old yet so dont know how long they will lay for. I have heard of birds being 6 yrs old and still laying (obviously apart from when they are moulting) |

All spana's speckledys are nearly all dead but she's going to buy some more Black Rocks and Speckledys when all her chickens die. |

Yesterday I went to Poultry Park and bought two new hens to add to my six!
This time a bought a Speckeldy and a Maran Cuivree.
The Speckeldy I have named Priscilla. As soon as I have any photos of her I will post them here. She is quite white headed and I avoided the ones with feathered legs and feet as the run can become quite muddy at times.
The Maran Cuivree is called Georgina! Will see if there is a thread for those!

see I have one of them there hens and I was told by the woman who sold her to me [£15] that she was a legbar... then on here someone [henwife] said she was a moron cuckoo and now I see speckeldy I am all confusseded and dont know what I have!
Mines called Rocket as when we got home with her she was next to me one minute and then with no flapping she was 6 foot up on a fence! So I said "what the hell??? Have you a rocket up your jacksie!" |

| At £15 she would be an expensive 'hybrid'! Does she look like the pictures of the speckeldys (with a lightish head) on here and what colour are her legs. Any picture? |

Mamapacker- By the pic your bird looks like a cuckoo marans, Speckledys tend to have lighter feathering around the head.
So I agree with henwife
