Really sorry Nigel.
I know how awful it is to have animals/birds taken when in your care. When I was young, we lived in Scotland and had guinea pigs. One morning I went out to feed mine and there was just blood and fur on the hutch where he'd been pulled out by something very strong - a Pine Martin. Do you have them in Sweden?
Poor Basil. |

Well if it's any consolation Nigel I shot a fox this morning at 6am who was sat outside my run, watching the ducks who'd just been let out 5 minutes earlier... and low and behold I shot one yesterday too in the next field - there were two of them - this was 9.30am... They had already killed my neighbours chickens and I'm keeping my chickens in their run until I feel 'fox free' again! I find it really sad having to shoot them but sadly they cause so much damage. These were quite young and I believe at this time of year, they have left the parents so move off into new hunting grounds to establish their own teritory so it is a dangerous time for us.
Something to be careful of is the fox will keep coming back so you would be wise taking precautions for the remaining Geese.
I'm very sorry for you, it is heart breaking.
Tim. |

| The remaining geese are only just now starting to act more normally. The only thing we can be thankful for is that the one gosling we raised this year was in the garden, otherwise he would have been a goner too. |

Really sorry Nigel and Steph, not a nice thing to have to find.
I have been lucky (so far)....not sure how I would cope with the carnage.

I somehow missed this thread before. I am so sorry about your geese. I hope you catch what did it.
I must confess to catching the opossum that had gotten into my coop. CSI would have had trouble identifying what it was by the time I was through with it. |
