I keep my chicken in an ark, to give them more room I built an extension run that I butt up to the ark rvery day and then remove in the evenings.

When I picked the kids up last night I could see a bit of a commotion going in the run so I went out to investigate. Somehow a young blackbird had managed to get into the run via the small gap between the ark and the run (modification time I think!). The chickens must have mobbed it and were busily tossing it around like a rag doll.

I have seen mine kill a baby rat, chickens are quite feisty and mine always chase the blackbirds off if they get too near.

I agree, depends on the breed-

Do you notice how they can pick on a weak or sick bird in flock

Thats why I like ducks- much more placid Very Happy

Geese on the other hand tend to be more like chicken in the way they will pick on other birds occasionally.

Mine used to grab a young chick or a hen and toss it about from one to the other.
