| have been cleaning duck weed off the pond and have stuck it in with the girls who are frantically raking thru it with great glee !! The water boatmen are having a bad day !! In the past whenever we did a "big" pond clean i used to be upset as so many insects died of dehydration etc but it somehow feels ok for the girls to dispatch them. Gosh i sound quite dispassionate ..... i'm not really LOL |

We did that at the weekend and the chickens loved the duck weed as well as the bugs

I don't think you do, it's just a case of wanting to have an animals life (and end of it) contribute to another's, rather than get wasted.
I think it sounds quite the opposite  |

Our girls can't wait for us to clean the pond. They go pond dipping themselves, mostly for the water snails!  |
