I'm so excited lads! My Hovabator arrived while I was on hols, intact and very easy to set up. I just have to get a transformer tomorrow and get it running to test temp and humidity and should be ready to set my first dozen eggs, courtesy of Greentree, on Tuesday. Very Happy

These will be Light Sussex LF (if I manage to hatch any at all!) so I'll be selling them once they're off heat (or eating the cockerals if no one wants them), if anyone in Ireland is interested do let me know!

Now have to make a list of things I need for the brooder and figure out where I'm going to put them...... cheers

You little terror you! There's no stopping you huh? Don't let me buy any Light Sussex from you - I don't have the room and my OH will leave me if I try to smuggle in any more!

Hi Chickens rock your socks, welcome to the forum!!! Nice to have another Irish poster. Very Happy

I know a few people here highly recommend the R-Com20 so it seems like a good buy. I got the hovabator because it is well recommended and cheap (cheep!) at only €100 including turner and p&P from the US. Not bad. It also holds 42 eggs with the auto turner in so it's able to cater to my ever-increasing chicken addiction!! Laughing

If you use the search function or scroll down thro this forum you'll get plenty of info on the R-Com20, do let us know how you get on.

Hi Chickens rock your sox,

Welcome to the forum!

I can thoroughly recommend the 2008 model RCom20 - I bought one a couple of months ago, and it's been an absolute delight to use. It automatically maintains temperature and humidity, does all the egg-turning etc... I've had great hatching rates with it.

The 2008 model does away with the hassle of the humidity sponges you had to put into previous models, and so that's one less ongoing cost.

The 20 egg capacity is only (in my experience) achieveable with normal-sized hen eggs if you buy the hen-egg tray - the universal dividers supplied with the incubator only allow me to fit in 18 eggs (i.e. 6 rows of 3 eggs each) - the hen-egg tray has off-set egg-holes, and gets the full 20 eggs into the available space.

The whole thing is really easy to clean after use, which is a big plus also. Having used Brinsea and Maino incubators in the past, I'd never go back. And will be buying a second R-com20 next year to up my incubating capacity!

Can't help you with P&T Poultry's delivery to Ireland, but can tell you how they dealt with Shetland (which is in many ways even harder than sending stuff to Eire, imho!).

I bought my R-Com from them, and have nothing but praise for how they handled the purchase, how well it was packaged, and how reasonable the shipping cost was. They're a good company in my experience.

atb,

Attila
