My 2 new hens are not using the nestboxes, I found 1 egg broken on the coop floor yesterday and another one today, intact this time, on the coop floor.

I don't seem to be able to find any of the false eggs, could I use real eggs. blow them and fill them with something, if so what and do they have to be a certain weight?

You can use golf balls if you have any around - if not blown eggs filled with something to make them more solid should be fine - weight is not important I think it's just something vaguely egg shaped in the nest they need.

Or try a vaguely egg shaped stone or two. It worked for mine!

Almost anything vaguely resembling an egg can work.

Good luck, Sylvia!

BTW, did Billy No Mates accept the ladies OK?

Thank you all for your replies. I did manage to find some wooden ones yesterday, it was me being stupid, I should have known that dummy eggs are not kept on the shelves in the poultry section but are with the horsey stuff and electric fencing section Exclamation Exclamation Laughing

After alll that I needn't have bothered, when I went down to put them in the nest boxes there were 2 eggs one in each nest box, but I did put them in just in case the forget.
