AFAIK quail are very flighty & have to be housed in an aviary so I think the answer is probably 'No' to quail. Though willing to be proved wrong! |

| I asked about quail and hens a few weeks back in general and misc (I think) the general consensus was no, even in a covered run as the hens will pick on the quail |

| When I temporarily housed a 6wk old pullet with some adult quail it was fine for 2 days and then killed one...needless to say I have not tried it again! |

In some rare cases you can mix chickens with other birds.
When I was at Writtle they hand reared a duck with chickens and they got on fine. If ducks and chickens are raised together or bought and kept together at simlar age it can certainly be done.
I reckon ducks are probably the only other bird you could mix with a chook ^^ |

| I have guineas and Silkies together they used to share a hut until I hatched more Guineas, they now each have their own but sometimes choose to roost or lay in the other hut ! they never seem to squabble but get along just fine, the guineas incedently were hatched by a Silkie if that makes any difference but not the first 3 they were bought in |

This is going to sound like a daft question, but could you house a rabbit in with 3 hens?

| If they get on well I can't see much of a problem - but I'm not sure they would get on well - I think the rabbit would likely get stressed by the chickens. |

| We used to keep a rabbit with two ducks - not really intentionally, they all had free range of garden during the day and the ducks and rabbit would always be found together in the duck house - one of the ducks used to sleep on him - downside - he was always stinky and covered in poop |
