I RECENTLY PURCHASED A TREADLE FEEDER FOR MY HENS BUT THEY DON'T SEEM TO WANT TO USE IT. I HAVE TRIED PUTTING GRAIN ON THE PLATFORM AND INTRODUCING THEM TO IT BY PLACING THEM ON THE PLATFORM. I HAVE EVEN OPENED THE FEEDER TO TRY TO ENCOURAGE THEM BUT THEY DON'T WANT TO KNOW.
PLEASE HELP.

How long is recently? My inclination would be to let them get hungry. Maybe cut their feeds down from 2 a day to one and they will find out how to do it through desperation. When one gets the hang of it the others will quickly follow.

My calls all have treadle feeders and get on really well with them. I sprinkle feed on the treadle, it doesn't take them long to work out how it works, sometimes I put a brick on them so they can see whats inside
