I gave my girls their very first mashed potato last night. What a kerfuffle! Even the shy, bottom of the pecking order hen pushed her way in to get some!

Crazypianolady, did you give them anything else because me and Spana give them hot mash wth chick crumb in it but we only do that for cold days |

Nothing else in it, Bradders. It was just some left over from dinner, and I'd read a post saying how chickens like it. But giving it warm on a cold day is a great idea.
(Mine also like warm porridge made with water when it's cold!)

My chooks love nothing better than eating left over roast pots on a Sunday The smallet one always manages to get a whole one to herself and will still try a steal leftovers from the others. Amazingly my cockerel lets them have all they want and takes what is left. Such a gent
Pasta a peas is another favourite and usually leads to mayhem. Its thier cold weather treat and so cheap and easy. Chopped eggs go down well too, especialy with the chicks.
Have not tried mash, but sure they'd eat that as well as they dont semm to fussy
Keep smilin
