I was given a pair of guinea fowl two years ago. They were old so I bought a young pair, which turned out to be two males. A prowling fox relieved me of the guinea hen along with a setting of eggs. I may have something 'hail' and hearty for him should I be fortunate enough to see him return!

I gave two males away, to a friend and now need to find a guinea hen to start over. I have great difficulty in telling male from female - I may have to pen these birds in future - for a second reason - they bully other fowl. Any tips?

Hello and welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy your time here. Sorry I know nothing about guinea fowl, but I think one of the other members has them~ hopefully she'll be along later on to help out.

Hi im here now lol. rite to tell the males from the females, here goes. rite well the easiest way is to tell from the noise they make. a guinea hen makes a 2 sylable sound a bit like come bak, come bak, not the shrill cry, a male only makes a single sylablke sound, cant remember wot that sounds like now. generally males r bigger, with bigger feet and legs, and also bigger wattles and combs, though this can sumtimes not b the case. best to go on sound
