do they knit with the needles the same way round as right handers or the opposite?
I've been trying to teach the girls and Lucy just can't get it, not sure if it's Lucy or a left handed thing

We have kids at school who do it both ways. Have you tried sitting face to face so that when she copies you she is mirroring what you do - doing with her left hand what you do with your right?

I have read huge debate on the subject Debcat!!! - Most left handed people say that they can knit normally once they get the idea.... But books often say to teach them in a mirror as Jaydee suggests. I think once she "gets" it she'll find her own way....

My mother is ambidextrous, and when she learned to knit, she would knit one row "normally" and the next row "left handed" ... knit garter-stitch back and forth, and end up with stockin stitch Laughing

I'd teach her left-handed (so in the mirror) if she can't get the hang of it right-handed.

I was taught by an old lady who used to sit in our playground when I was 5. She was right handed, me left handed. It was a struggle, and I knit right handed. I think??
Stitches on left hand needle, and empty (to be filled) needle in right hand.
