A longstanding habit of poultry keepers. I put a clove of garlic into the water fount. It is used as a worm preventative - they should still be wormed twice yearly, but it is supposed to make their guts unfriendly to internal nasties. It may not do any good, but it certainly does no harm.

Some people use a fresh clove of garlic, others (including me) use ACV (apple cider vinegar) with added garlic - the one I use is called Gar-rich. I give 1 tablespoon to one drinker full of water - it worked out very close to the recommended dosage.

If you do start to use ACV, use a plastic or enamel drinker because it will react with galavanised metal.

My chicken won't drink water with vinegar in and I dislike the smell!

No, I'm not too keen on the smell straight from the bottle! Laughing
