I am also building a new house - my first attempt and I'm quite proud of it so far, piccies when finished. I decided that, although it's to house the "in betweenies" before they go in with the main flock, i just may use it for a broody if needed so i have made removable perches. They were very simple to make, my hubby was amazed when i showed it him - it's basically 2 peices of 2" x 2" with the edges rounded off (as long as you need to fit your house), I then attatched two peices of 1" x 1" both 8"" long to the underneath of each end of one length and another 2 peices of around 4" on the other length (so the back perch will be higher than the front), then i put 2 x 12" lengths of 1" x 1" on as feet but in a way that veiwed fro above it would look a bit like this # for stability, I'll try and get a photo. It will also be handy to be able to remove for cleaning too.
