I finally managed to get hold of the purple spray. I sent OH down to the chemist last week to ask for it but they wouldn't give it to him for hens. Sad

Today I went down and lied through my teeth to the young pharmacist, telling him I had fungus growing between my toes and the purple spray was the only thing that sorted it out! Shocked After 15 minutes lecture on how not to use it, warnings about dying my clothing etc, he finally gave me bottle of powder which I can mix myself. By the way, the stuff he gave me is Potassium Permangenate....is that what everyone uses?

Going out soon to dye my Light Sussex now. I will have to change my chemist, I'm mortified! Embarassed Embarassed Laughing

No. Potassium Permangenate is ideal for sorting out fungus growing between your toes, but it is very poisonous. I use it to keep my rainwater algae free and I use 1 teaspoon in 40 gallons. So do not use it on your chickens you will kill them

The reason why you cannot get the purple spray is because you are at a chemist - for humans, and they cannot sell drugs to you if they know they are going to be used on animals.

For animal drugs you need to go either to a vet or to a farm supply shop.

I use the purple foot spray that I use for my sheep, you should be able to get it at your local feed/farm store.

Yes, Home Farm Fowls sell it and another option, on the Health tab.

Thanks for that guys. Didn't use it as something told me it was not right. Pity I don't have fungus-y feet though, I've enough to last a lifetime! Laughing
I'll try Home Farm Fowls.

Glad you didn't use it on your LS.

Never mind, you can always use it to stain wood! Wink

Sorry to disappoint but once it's dried it goes brown, not purple. Wink

I managed to find some near me and I now have a purple hand.. any ideas or secrets to getting it off or do I just have to keep washing it with soap?

Just wash, wash, wash! But you could try adding something a little abrasive, such as sand or salt. Wink
