The eggs under our broody started to hatch early in the week, since then we have found a new chick each day Very Happy 5 chicks and 4 eggs still waiting from our first ever try, we are really pleased. They are all enjoying the hot weather with 'mum' encouraging them outside Smile They are great to watch and seem to love the sun.

One thing though; one of the eggs showed signs of pipping 2 days ago and is still no further, is it still possible it may hatch? As all was left to nature the eggs were laid over a few days so we knew they would hatch at different times. All the eggs will now be over 21 days and I would like to give them a fair chance. Just worried that too bigger gap between the chicks could be a problem Confused

Is the broody still sitting on the pipped egg? It may still hatch if she is but if she's now attending to her chicks she may abandon any eggs left in the nest. Wink

She seems to go between the chicks and the eggs, which has worked out fine for the others. I think as it is so hot outside she just knows when to sit and when to leave them Smile We noticed before the others hatched that she was leaving them uncovered until chck was actually appearing Confused
Its just the fact that it pipped 2 days ago and the other pipped and hatched within hours Surprised
They seem to do it quicker than those in inubators Question
