I have 3 one day old chicks with broody (and eggs still under) and have juat notice redmites on broody house. Is it safe to use Barrier Red Mite powder on house and broody? Do I powder the chicks? OR would it be best to move them all and give house good clean with dilute dettol? Help!!!!

If you can move them do so as Redmite can kill chicks quite easily. 
Don't know if it's safe to use that powder on your birds as I don't have any - what does it say on the bottle?
Redmite actually live in the house so a good dusting round all the cracks & crevices is a must. Dettol won't have any effect on the redmite though.  |

Bottle does not mention chicks just says use sparingly on small birds  Think I will move all out and dust house. Gives me a chance to cleam broody at same time.

Have cleaned and dusted house, washed broodys very dirty bottom and put all back. Now its fingers crossed

All well this morning and another chick has hatched. Cleaning house and dusting with redmite powder seems to have donoe no harm and I'd rather be safe than risk chance it was redmite.

Better to prevent them in the first place so if it wasn't redmite then you've made the coop unsavoury for them should they decide to pay a visit!  |
