OK, as some of you know I have arranged a long weekend for OH and I in a lighthouse in North Wales, we live in Shrewsbury.
On the way I want to stop off somewhere for a romantic picnic but not sure where we can go, so I call upon all you people in and around the A5 (don't mind a detor, but not too far off the beaten track) heading up towards Llandudno, to offer up some ideas or links to sites I can research

Well if you stick to the A5 you have a few choices
There's the canal at Llangollen and there is also a lovely riverside walk to a church on the river where you can paddle from the bank, ( easily reached with a picnic basket ) or the Horseshoe pass which has lovely views.
There is Gerionydd Lake at Llanrwst or Crafnant Lake at Trefriw - Snowdonia National Park or you can go to the quay at Conwy where you have the Castle as a background (will be a few people around though!)
The lighthouse is in a fantastic spot and there's lots to see and do in LLandudno and the surrounding area. |

Ooooh thank you Dusty! I was considering the Horseshoe Falls but you have given me lots of choices..... if the weather is bad we can continue to the Lighthouse and have our "picnic" in the lightroom |

Hi Clucky,
The horseshoe falls are near the church. You can reach them from the church end rather than walk 3 miles from Llangollen itself (if I remember correctly - we did it last year).
The Great Orme where the Lighthouse is is a lovely spot, if you are feeling energetic (and want to leave the romance of the lamproom) you can walk right around the orme .
OH and I have had many picnics / bar b q on the Orme overlooking the sea on a warm evening but the lamproom sounds fantastic.
Let me know if you want any information on the area, I know it reasonably well. |

| Handy tip - don't go in the chair lift thingy if you have a child that feels sick! |
