| Never seen it but wouldn't risk it either. They are always after the sparrows and greenfinches at my birdtable. They will tackle a woodpigeon so a bantam would be no trouble I guess. |

| If they take rabbits, pheasant and doves then they'll be tempted to take a bantam or two. |

A few years ago a Sparrowhawk took on one of my cats (or may have been the other way around!) - not too sure who was the 'victor' but there was fur and feathers everywhere and both survived!

| My bantams hate sparrowhawks with good reason I suspect. I've never known them to take full sized bantams, but chicks they will, and all mine are under cover. However, they are good ratters, and I fear that the emaciated dead sparrow hawk we found at the top of the garden recently might have had one with a newly filled belly of poison. The dying rats hide. |

Err, are you sure that's not a Kestrel?
Kestrels will use boxes, Sparrowhawks usually take over old corvid nests.

What a lovely picture.
Hope they stay away from your chicks.
I doubt very much if a cat would get up there, theres nothing to grip to with it being such a smooth surface and they would probably end up sliding down.
Must be brave cat to tackle them anyway. |
