Put 30 mixed Pekin eggs in the inc this morning.

I only want to keep 12 females, so will end up having to find homes for the others, and hopefully won't get too many males hatch.

But I bet you get between 5-10 boys out of your 30.
Unfortunately no one has yet managed to sex eggs! It would certainly be a lot easier, especially for the small, hobby breeder.
There are usually so many cockerels needing homes.
I have 3 at the moment, just about 7 weeks old. They will most likely end up in the pot. Sad

I raise the temp in my inc and usually that gives you more hens than cocks. Did that for years when I had poultry and always worked.

Bit like reptiles, the lower the temp the more males, higher the more females.

But sods law, it won't work this time

according to research in new zealand temperature level has NO effect on poultry sexing........it only works with cold blooded reptiles..................so pekinout have you got records that show it works please

Not got any records, never kept them for the 30 yrs I've bred poultry, apart from bills of sale etc.

We didnt bother weighing the eggs, just used to candle them at 7 and 14 days, and always had near on 99% hatch rate.

I'm not the only poultry breeder that's tried this method and had success.

We used this method for, as I say 30yrs, always worked with poultry and waterfowl.

We tried it on most rare breed poultry, large and miniature, but never tried it on bantams as we only kept the true bantams and people always want a trio of those, so cocks were welcome in the hatches.
