on my next door neighbour's garden!
I went out yesterday evening and rattled the corn in a jug, the signal for them all to coming running to see me and go back into their run ready for bed time. A quick head count - only five. Walk up and down the garden like an idiot rattling the corn. Put the five in the run and went looking for the missing one - Sweetie, usually follows me around like a second shadow.
I eventually heard her burbling away to herself on next door's prize lawn!!!! 
I managed to entice her back through the hedge (bribed her with corn) and I've now filled the gap in the hedge.
Fortunately my neighbour saw the funny side of it and happily accepted the eggs I took round this morning as a peace offering..............

I have that problem with the khaki campbells
You'd think they'd be happy with 5 acres 
I feed them small amounts at varying intervals now, since they never know when the next lots getting put out they tend to stay at home in case they miss out  |

yep same problem here ,runners seem to squeeze though the smallest gaps  the dutch comes and goes they keep saying that they like the big hens ,sheep netting isn't great at keeping hen's in even if you do put it up the right way  |

| Update on yesterday's tale - not only did Sweetie get through again this afternoon, she took a friend with her!! So I have an extra job this weekend, putting some chicken wire along the bottom of the hedge to keep the escapees in! Although looking at the holes they've dug in their pen, they might start tunneling under it........... |

i have a slightley different problem to that, my neighbour keeps feeding mine sweetcorn over the fence and they regularly visit her, popped into her garden yesturday to retrieve a couple of stray ones and found 2 crisp boxes behind her shed with straw in and 2 eggs laid there!!!  |

Having put 3 rolls up and then discovered one was upside down, I know what you mean!!
We had 4 embden ganders (dont ask ) that always went touring next door, even though they had to walk down 10 acres to get to next door....... Trouble was, "next door" was a blimmin high hill that you could see the top of from our garden but was like Mount Everest when you got down to the bottom of it and the geese were invariably on the top If they werent on the yard, you knew exactly where they were.... You could call til the cows came home and they just ignored you like naughty children When you trekked down to collect them, you could hear them whispering away to one another and occasionally, a periscope would come up to investigate where you were and quickly duck down again with more whispering, they were real b***ers |

Half way through Dr Who last night, my neighbour came round to say Sweetie had gone visiting again! That's after putting up about half a roll of chicken wire at the point I thought she was getting through!
So - you'll never guess - they're under arrest until I've got the time to go down the whole hedge to plug the gaps!! |
