I posted this earlier in the year but the makers have asked me to re-post as I have only sent three samples out so far:

I am finally now able to offer a trial of a completely herbal defence against red mite, lice and fleas. I was approached by the developer of this remedy when I emailed him to ask if he offered smaller amounts of the stuff for "backyard" chicken keepers (his website only offered amounts sufficient for 1000 birds plus!) I quote what is on his website www.redmitecure.com

Poultry ProtectorTM...

...is for chickens, turkeys and pigeons

...is a natural based treatment to counter red mite, fleas and lice

...is not an insecticide or biocide and does not directly kill parasites. It reduces the feeding of the parasite and therefore acts as a deterrent

...decreases infestation of mites, fleas and lice

which results in calmer birds...

Calmer birds tend to have

increased egg-laying capacity!

The liquid is added to the drinking water and is a permanent fixture. ie if you change the water or top up it will be with this mixture. The dilution is one 5ml teaspoon to 50 litres of water. I have been told that if the red mite infestation is severe it would do no harm to add a "little" more to the water. I have divided up the mixture into 50ml bottles (they come in 150ml bottles) as I felt that was a more manageable amount.

They ask that you make a note of the following information:

could each user include
Location:
Number and type of bird:
Parasites: Known type, (or) do not know type
Date started using mixture:
Observable results: eg - Increased egg production, happier birds, reduction in
observable parasites etc

I have to ask £1.75 p&p for this (I have bought padded bags and plastic bottles and postage will be £1.09)

I have no idea if this works folks! I just thought it might be something to try and Jay Carson (you'll see his name on the website) asked me directly if I would do it.

I have enough for 12 people. PM me your address if you would like to try it. I have a paypal account.

I have now used this myself (well on my chickens anyway!) and can vouch for it having the desired effect as far as I can see. I have had a lot of trouble in the past with red mite and scaley leg with my poultry but since using this I have not seen a single mite and the scaley leg is obviously healing up.

Thanks CP - did you email Jay to that effect? I only ask because he emailed me for feedback, and it sounded like he didn't believe I sent any out at all.

I'd love to try it but I'm trialing Ropadair and Orego Stim at the moment - would the 2 be able to be used together in the same drinking water? I'm really pleased with both products, firmer poos and nice shiny feathers - increase in eggs too Very Happy. Hasn't worked on all but has on most of them.

Hi Chris, sorry I didn't pick this up before. I'm afraid I don't know the answer - I suggest you email jaycarson@bioharmony.com and ask him. He is usually good at replying although it might take a few days. Very happy to send you a batch if he gives the OK.

Hi
More than happy to help trial this product if any left? I have free range birds and sell surplus eggs to a few local shops can you still eat the eggs whilst birds on this trial? as cannot really afford to withdraw the eggs to shops. We keep Araucana's, Appenzellers, marans, brahmas, cochin and various hybreds etc

If you do have any left how can I pay the postage

many thanks
Very Happy

Oh, I have only just picked up this thread. I would like to have a try if there is still enough left?

I do not have any known mites or other problem 'guests', does that still make me eligible?

Thanks

Hi SP, I would wait and see if you get any unwanted visitors - otherwise there won't be anything to report! But thanks very much for offering Very Happy
