I know hens like seed sprouts, but are there any types that are particularly beneficial?

I know Bhindi sprouts wheat, (where do you get the seed from?) but what others could I do? And are there any to avoid?

Presumably you can sprout the wheat component of mixed corn - which you may already be feeding your chickens? Otherwise if you go to a feed merchant you can buy wheat by the 20kg sack or from a pet shop by the scoop or pound. I tried feeding sprouted mung beans to my chickens but they turned their beaks up at it.

I have a local organic shop, well its a chap who's been renting a community hall 2 days a week for years, he buys in a 20kg sack for me.

Next time I get it I will post the name, and will see if we can find a supplier of it near you.

I also make myself 'wheat bags' with it, as I prefer it to a hot water bottle.

Different seeds, I have dabbled with sesame and sunflower, but they both go kind of slimy.

My girls adore sprouted mung bean, but they snap of the long shoot if its to long and only eat the seed. (fusspots Laughing )
