How many nestboxes would you need for about 18 hens? Its just we want to move our chickens into a different shedm, which is slighty bigger. I have at the moment these brcick mangers in the shed we usin at prsent, and they stretch across 1 side, but its 1 thing, so i dunno hoiw many nestboxes id need 2 get whem we mvoe them. id like 2 get rollaway ones, to make sure egg eatin doesnt happen, but need 2 know how many nestboxes first. only happen though if the damn builder ever finishes the job!

hiya fangs, well done with all your extra chicks ~ the secret is to keep them moving and then no-one can count them !
Re your nest boxes ~ I've just got some of the rollaway ones. I got a new shed for my girls 8x6 and wanted to be able to lock them in if I go away for a couple of days and rollaways seemed the answer ~ wouldn't want to leave the eggs for days on end risking getting some trampled and then egg eating happening. Got them from Chicken House Man ~ I got a bank of 5 of them as that was the available space I had. They came on Friday ~ I hadn't quite appreciated how bulky it would be ~ it's sort of 'L' shaped because of the collection box, and I needed to take them round a little path to get to the house. I wasn't sure what the girls would make of them and one small pekin was very unhappy and spent the day shouting but the others used them.
I've got them on the floor with egg collection inside the house, so they have the nest boxes in a row and all along the front is a little lift up lid thing where the eggs collect. I've put a little layer of shavings in there so the eggs don't get broken as they roll in and it seemed successful yesterday. |

Okay thanx guys, I guess then I need 5. Will get rollaway ones then if ever that builder finished the damn work!! Because of him my room flooded cause he didnt unclog the pipes!! damn builder!!! he beta do the work and properly this time
