I have always stored them out of the fridge after I read somewhere years ago that it wasn't the ideal place to keep them.
If you sell them you mustn't store them in the fridge. |

| I have stored mine in the fridge since the Edwina Currie furore. Always the very top shelf though. Just feel it's the best foody place for them and my kitchen gets very hot due to the Rayburn being on most of the time. |

| It is not good to keep eggs in a fridge then take them out say at the gate to sell then refrigerate them again that is why eggs in shops are never stored in a fridge, However at catering college we were told an egg deteriorates as much in 1 day room temp as 5 days in the fridge I keep mine in the fridge unless for incubation, also some recipes work better with eggs at room temp HTH |

| I used to keep mine in the fridge until I got my own. Now I keep them in a basket, rotating the fresh ones to the bottom. Between the ones we eat and sell, I know at worst the eggs I'm eating are only a few days old and a lot fresher than anything in the shop! |

Pointy end down is for hatching eggs. Helps keep the air space where it's needed by the chick. |

| Because I have so many eggs, I have a small fridge for eggs only, running at the 'warmest' setting. Both eating and hatching eggs are stored there and always have been. |

| Pointy end down - admit it - it's just in case the incubator is lonely! |

It's habit, pointy end down. Mine are in a chicken thingy , sorry not very descriptive am I. I bought it ages ago, all nice an colourful....it doesn't hold enough. They lay down in there. When that is full, I start using egg boxes, as I have someone who takes a dozen a week off me, so by the time she comes around for more, the egg boxes are full. |

| If they are from my own hens they go in the cupboard (also ponty end down. even my other half has caught onto this craze now!). However if I buy them from the shop, they go in the fridge because I doubt how fresh they actually are. |
