By about 8 weeks, mums getting a bit fed up with her babies & is trying to get them to fend for themselves. Rolling Eyes
As they should be fed growers pellets until approx. 16 weeks it's better to keep them separate until then. Wink

16 weeks for growers pellets? That has answered another question in my mind then! LoL What would happen if I carried on with growers pellets after that date? would they be starved of the stuff that they need to start laying?

Laughing Just to update - our hen finally settled and we put some fertile eggs under her on Fri (11th), so fingers all crossed we get some chicks.

She is sitting well and i am making sure she gets off once a day to eat etc.

Thanks for all your advice and support, will let you know how we get on. Very Happy

Laughing Thank you for all your wonderfull advice, our broody came off her nest yesterday with four gorgeous chicks in tow. Now we have had a 100% hatch rate dont think the incubator will be coming out of the shed again Laughing

Its just typical that 3 are males Rolling Eyes (they all legbars) so will be looking for homes for two cockerals once they are big enough.

Let me know if anyone fancies giving them a home.
