We are planning to put a shelf in our hen house - how high up should it be and how wide and ought we to put an edge on it so they wouldn't slide off if they fell asleep on it or would they not do that  |

a perch is a better idea
i think 2 by 2 with rounded edges ,you could put a shelf under neither to catch droppings (dropping board ) which is easier to clean out
and what height depends on which type of chickens |

Thanks - we do have a perch already - I just thought a shelf might give them somewhere else to wander to and a bit of variety - or am I thinking not like a chicken keeper ........
(We spend lots of time working on enrichment and making homes for our rodents interesting and exciting .... do the hens not really care LOL?) |
