Hi will be getting 2 black rocks in May and have done the run and the OH had bought a "outdoor storage box " from B&Q for their house 2 questions how big should the pop hole be and secondly would it be a good idea to make the pop hole out of a clear material so that the box has some natural light ?

Hi i've got Black Rocks and we utilised a discounted bike shed from B&Q!!!

We put it so the doors are at the back so I can open them without having to go into the pen to clean out, it is raised up on old railway sleepers also for ease plus it gives shelter underneath..

We put some polycarbonate sheeting in each door to give light. It has worked well. Very Happy

We removed one slat close to the roof and put wire on, for ventilation, replacing the slat on the one above so it angles out to allow rain to run of which adds protection also from wind.

The pop hole is about 12" high by 8" wide I think, i'll measure it tomorrow.

The girls don't have any problem with this.

I think you should add ventilation like Dusty, it would let light in through there so you don't need to worry about a transparent pop hole - if it's the outdoor storage things I'm thinking of they would get very hot and sweaty inside without ventilation in summer - if you could partially close it off for winter or have a rain cover over it then it would also help to prevent draughts.

Pop hole should be a little smaller than an A4 sheet, though mine is quite a bit smaller and even the large Light Sussex manage it.

Like the idea of the storage shed though! Well done. Can you post piccies?
