Mastitus is a big problem, where i work we had a ewe die of it yesterday, really sad she had 2 two week old lambs aswell which are now orphans getting bottle fed. Weve nearly finished lambing and have around 450-500 lambs!! haha a few more than you its so tiring but enjoyable. |

Just come in after helping with twins! One "white" boy called Kaydin and one tiny dark brown girl called Kynan. Piccies later. Kaydin, being quite big, managed to latch on but little Kynan is having a problem. Mum Flora has 4 teats - 2 normal and 2 small - all have milk and Kynan has just found the smaller teat so hopefully she will now get something. Because it took so long for her to get anything, when she did get anywhere either mum walked away or big brother barged her out of the way, I have given her a small feed of colostrum and some lamb boost.
Florin, , with the mastitis , seems to be ok - I am still going out every 2 hours and massaging and I do think it is softer. Kaitlyn, her lamb, is growing like a weed so the other side must be enough for her. |
