I would say that makes a lot of sense, different woods have natural quality's, to keep bugs away (otherwise they would never grow before they were eaten by bugs) and we still use them today, Tea tree oil is one eucalyptus is another, after all aspirin is a mould, and lots of other drugs and pesticides, come from plant extracts, so theirs something out there, and like you say Cedar could be the cure for red mite |

| When making up new roost bars, I was hoping to buy some cedar wood for this very reason, but its not easy to come by and very expensive. Fortunately I have not yet experienced the dreaded mite anyhow. |

| Just a quick anorak-y moment here - aspirin is not a mould, it is now a manufactured chemical, originally derived from Willow bark I believe. Maybe you confused it with antibiotics which were/are? made from moulds. |

| Sorry i meant antibiotic not aspirin, its like a lot of other drugs, insulin being one used to be taken from pigs, and now chemically manufactured |
