| Roughly 66 confirmed cases pre Christmas, the rest post Christmas detected due to blood testing pre movement. They were all infected before the vector free period. |

On Sunday my farming friends vaccinated their sheep & cows with the Bluetongue vaccine.
You have to administer it within 8 hours of opening the bottle, so it was a fairly mammoth task & they're not a large farm either!
Whether it was a coincidence or not we don't know, but after the calves were done they went a bit hyper! They charged up the field & straight on through the fence.
My friends spent the rest of the day searching for them, rounding them up & returning them home. They didn't get to bed until well after midnight & there's still 1 missing, presumed dead. |

Oh no, thats not good There is quite a bit on the farmtalk pages about vaccination and possible side affects and also on the British Farming Forum. Apparently, some AH offices want to know any odd behaviour/problems related to vaccination, other AH offices dont want to know........ no change there then!! I would suggest they look at farmtalking forum, there is a link to the vaccine manufacturers where you can report things like this. They do keep stressing the vaccine is dead and so it should be 100% fine, no problems and that they have thoroughly field tested it and found no ill effects but as I know only too well, different animals react in different ways to drugs |
