to buy a chicken house ready made or contruct it yourself?

I'd say build your own. Possibly I don't check ebay often enough though Wink

If you have any scraps or can get pallets you can cut costs evenmore. Dopey has managed to build one for nothing!

I plagiarized a couple of commercial coops and even buying new materials I came in well under 50% of the cost. mind you it is well over-engineered so you could probably cut that further.

build your own!i just been out today and bought loads of shiplap and 2x1-going to start making and selling small scale chicken houses and runs!real lack of affordable housing down my way!!most housing is overpriced,so get your tools out! Very Happy

Build your own, and you don't need any particular skills, my coop was the first thing I ever made and it's still standing!

hubby built ours and it cost the same if not more. but he loves doing it, we know it's good quality and as far as the chooks are concerned - they really live in the best penthouse suite around. make your own definately. monica
