Seni, chamois poland pullet

Pod. chamois frizzled poland pullet

Firanr, chamois poland cockerel (young, crest still growing)

Polands are recognised by their charectiristic crest. They come in a variety of colorus including:
Chamois
Gold Laced
Silver Laced
White Crested Black
White Crested Blue
White
Partridge
Creole
Blue
Cuckoo
And More

They come in both bantam and large. The crests of the males are large and pointy tipped, and usually quite messy in appearance. Whilst the hens have large round, neat crests.

When young breeders tend to sex them by the development of the crest. Pullets crests come through much sooner, and are round and tidy, whilst cockerels crests develop slowly, and are messy in apperance.

They are not recommended to beginners, as the crest must be kept clean to prevent build up of food in it, and also lice, mites, and fleas. They need to be deloused regularly, o prevent this.

When comnig to showing them, they are more a specilised bird. The crests must be cleaned throughly, making sure that soap doesn't get into the eyes of the birds. Johnson's baby shampoo is the ebst thing to use when washing the bird. Make sure after that they are dried throughly, forst with a towel, and then with a hair drier, carefully as to not burn the bird.

I did have three but sadly one of them was killed by a fox while inside an Eglu and those things are advertised as fox proof. Im searching for 2 more Polands so eventually it will be four ^_^

they have become very friendly birds as got them when they where still young.
