I've looked on the forum for any mention of them but can't seem to find any info, thanks.

Not sure if you are still interested in these Lily, but I bought 3 Australorp hens today. Breeder said they were very friendly and will fly up into your lap once they get to know you. Mine must be bantams though, they're tiny! Will keep you posted on how friendly they are.

Lily, I have a trio of Australorp bantams which I have bought from a man who has been showing them for years and has now given up more or less (though I know he has kept a few birds!) I can honestly say that t hey are lovely friendly birds, I wish all of my chooks were as easy to put to bed or to put back into their pen at any time of day! I would recommend them to anyone. I also have 14 eggs in the Incubator at the moment, so I somehow don't think that I will be sticking at a trio! LoL I have to get more housing organised for them now! Wink

I have hatching eggs too, if anyone is interested in them?

I would like to have a trio of the LF Australorps too, I really like those as well.

I keep Australorp large fowl and I cannot understand why they are not more popular.
They are prolific layers of a large buff egg and the cockerels dress out at around 7lb at 28 weeks free-range.
A fully mature Australorp cock will weigh around the 10+lb mark and are as docile as a labrador dog.
Non flighty and calm..I can walk up to any of mine and just pick them up.Great with children and other breeds.
Good broodies when they go down easily covering 12 eggs are carefull mothers.
Loves free range and an easy bird to exibit and a longish show career.
No feathers of feet like Chochin and Brahmas and about the same size.
All my hens lay around 6 eggs a week and early hatched pullets lay through the winter.
