Hi guys Very Happy
Last week at spana's i helped weigh last years calves then i had to type the weights on spana's computer. Very Happy
In the mornings i had to go and let the hens out because spana can't get all the way up yard but the day we left the farm she was walking around with her cruches fine. Very Happy
Then once i had let the chooks out i helped feed the South Devons and the highlands and ducks on the muel. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

sounds great Bradders! You're so lucky being able to do stuff like that. I actually know someone who's never seen a cow in real life!

What do your mates at school think about you having to work so much in your holidays? Do they just sit around the house with their wii's?

Visited my farmer friends this morning.....I then helped (well, watched really. Rolling Eyes ) with an abcessed foot on a ram, ear-tagged 3 pigs before going to slaughter, picked out a hogget for the freezer in a months time, was told all about the cull ewes destined for cat food & the bullocks heading for Tesco c**p, whoops I mean Value meat!

And I only went for a couple of straw bales! Shocked Laughing Laughing

What a waste to send those cull ewes for cat food - I love mutton and find it really difficult to get hold of it.

Never had mutton & I did query this but she said there was no demand around here for it. Sad

However, I've been assured that the hogget will have a better, stronger flavour than lamb because of it's age. Wink

It's delicious - has much more flavour than the rather anaemic lamb that's often for sale. The fat leaves a lot to be desired though and is better put out for the wild birds.
