Hi there, I am new here so not too sure where to put this question. I live in the south of France and am finding it impossible to get Welsummer eggs for hatching. Is it legal and possible for me to have eggs sent from England! Also, where would I look to buy them! Any help appreciated. Thankyou Viv

I sent some Silkie eggs to Midi Pyrenees they took along time to get there and were so badly shaken ? not 1 was viable from the dozen, best if someone can bring some out unless you can source some in France

Thanks for that. So it is legal then but is there a maximum amount? I see that there are some member on this site who live in France and maybe they would be able to help me. Also, do you know if they are x rayed during the journey because this could affect them too could't it? Thanks very much for your help. Viv

Well I am in the midi pyrenees and I am coming back to Blighty in March for about 10 days. If you wanted to set something up, likse sending them to my family in Yorkshire, I could bring them back with me. Viv

I wouldn't got for posting eggs from the UK to France, because the package would be x-rayed which will further compromise viability. Do what most of us do ... bring them back from the UK, but put them in "normal" egg boxes, not specially-packaged as hatching eggs. Just in case ...

We brought eggs back in march last year, and may or may not bring some back in July. I wouldn't get any sent, I think they do get Xrayed and after the long journey are not often viable.
I'm sure you'll be able to source some to bring back with you next month.
Welcome by the way, there's a few of us from France on here, trying to take over, bt those bloody Isle of Lewis lot seem to be doing the same thing!
Very Happy
