The lady who taught me upholstery is a wonderful lace maker, she has a website but I don't know it's address, her name is Dora Northern, perhaps if you google that you may get something.

I started off with a craft kit ... it wasn't very good, but did get me started. I then made my own pillow and bought wooden bobbins (the ones in the kit were plastic). It's not really all that difficult; I learned from books, and went on to design my own lace.

Haven't made any for YEARS though, don't even know where my lace things are at the moment!!

I've had a quick look, and that seems to be a great site!! From one who used to make lace, it was a great reminder of how simple it really is.

Beauty is, you can pick it up and put it down any time ... even half way through a row, and it won't leave a mark (unlike knitting, which if left for weeks on end will "show", and if you try to put it down half way through a row ... Evil or Very Mad !!) ... so the perfect hobby for someone busy!! Very Happy
