I made this today for a friend. She asked me to make her a shopping basket. She's the one who taught me to knit socks and she loves to make stripey ones so her basket is stripey and I incorporated a crochet chain of 3 colours of chenille 'wool'.

I put the game case in to show you some idea of scale.

Julia, it's gorgeous......I really must look out for some materials (heaven knows where in France) and attempt a basket....I'd love to be able to do that.

Julia...why?

It looks fine to me, and if it's not perfect that is what makes it unique and attractive.
I would prefer to buy from someone I know, than something that is perfect and with no meaniful provenence.
Very Happy

Ok - I suppose I was looking at it from the angle that anyone buying would want a professional looking product. The way I make them - and that is only my second shopping basket - they are certainly unique and have character! I forgot to photograph the waste paper basket Mum got for Christmas - as Kirsty put it, it started round, thought about being square and then forgot all about shape!

You can come over any time - with or without a basket to collect. If you really want one let me know roughly size of basket and handle you have in mind - no guarantees as to final finish!
