Hiya Everyone:
I've a shed where I have happily kept three geese, some Muscovies, some Khaki Campbell's and some Buff Orpington hen's for a few years now. Over the last three days I've been loosing my Khaki Campbell. Each day it's been the same: one Khaki Campbell, bitten in the back, a fair chunk torn out (about half the size of £5 note). They are alive in the morning, two have died during the day, and the one today was sufficiently wounded that I dispatched it. Today it was the worse the day as another one had a bit taken out of her (but I think she will be alright).
Anyone know what could be causing this? We live near a river, and have considered a Mink. Do you know if this the modus operandi for a mink? Anyone know what else would do this?
Cheers,
Ben. |

| Almost certainly a mink bwaymark, they will attack things many times their own size and it's typical for them to jump on the back of their prey. Cage trapping and dispatch is probably your best bet. To bait it they love pilchards and kippers and also rabbit and pigeon if you can get it easily. |
