as sad as it sounds i collect old cook books, i had one arive today called "The Essex Cookery Book" its published by the essex education committee in 1922, as i was flicking through it i came across a recipe that my nan used to do for my brothers and myself as kids (and i dare say my cousons as well) its so easy that i even got Laura to help me Wink

Coconut Ice

1Lb Granulated Sugar
1/4 Pint of milk
1/2Lb Desicated Coconut

Method

1 - Melt the sugar in the milk and boil gentley for 10 minutes.
2 - Remove from fire (how old is this book) add coconut mix and pour at once into prepared tin, colour last half pink
3 - cut in squares when nealy cold

sorry if its been posted befor

Tony

YUM! I just love coconut ice. I collect old cookery books too. Started when I got my Grandmother's two handwritten and collected recipe books. Lots of wonderful old leaflets from WW11 and newspaper clippings going back to 1901. Not to mention knitting patterns for socks and hats for seamen and soldiers. I can spend happy hours going through them - always find something new.
