recently i have been hearing a kind of screaming sound in the ditches also the animal makes quite a loud nice when scamperinf off i dont think its a rat and i have never seen minks around but farmers have reported seeing them locallly and its definetly not a fox because whatever it was can get through biggish wire holes
any i dea what is it?

It could be a Otter they make a kind off screaming niose if you find a foot print that looks unfamiliar that you've never seen on your farm send it on and we'll have alook.  |

Thanks for that but i doubt its an otter because i live no where near a river or water like source
but i have just realised that we get stoats frequenting the area which would explain the absence of rats anyway are stoats as bad as mink regarding to poultry? |

| Oh yes - vicious little beasts stoats and quite capable of killing chickens. |

We live know where near a river and a Otter got into our stream and there was a foot print off one. |
