Im not sure if this is the right place to put this or not.

Quote:
Environment Secretary Hilary Benn has announced a £12.5m rescue package to support farmers in England hit by the foot-and-mouth disease outbreak.
The package includes £8.5m in one-off payments to hill farmers, £1m for full compensation for culled stock, and £2m to help promote British meat.

Mr Benn said farmers had had an "exceptionally difficult summer".

The National Farmer's Union welcomed the news, but said the £12.5m would fall far short of what is needed.

I was pleased to see on our bill from the milkman, an anouncement that milk was going up by 5p a litre due to a price rise for the dairy farmers.

About time to! Best 5 pence that I could spend.

Very well said that lady. clap clap

Did you know your doorstep delivery man earns more per pint delivering the milk than the producers earn per litre for producing it?

There is already a shortage of powdered milk because so many producers have finished. Powdered milk is used in many many manufactured food stuffs.

The absolute criminal waste of money and resourses is the trundling of tanker loads of milk all over the country.

Sorry - I'm going now
