Not necessarily, there could be some ready now if you've left them alone for a bit, if the pods are still green they run the risk of going mouldy now it's getting cooler, pick some and open them up and put the beans to dry out a bit in a dry place in a tray on some newspaper - not too warm a place, but not outside, conservatory or outside shed would be good.

Thanks Itsy...I've just gone and gathered a few of mine. I was given several of 3 varieties this year, and have now collected several of 3. They are so pretty, I love the runner bean seeds  |

Sorry  I'm just very practical and could get/have got interested in most things of a practical nature (not sport). When I was married I had 2 big allotments, kept chickens, sheep, goats and eventually a cow and recycling comes naturally to me.
I'm the person you need to know if the nuclear bomb ever goes off 
But in real life I'm a bit of a disappointment  my front room is full of half finished projects

I *think* (she says without running upstairs to check her seed saving books) runner beans cross very easily (compared to dwarf/french beans) so if you've grown three varieties the seed are unlikely to exactly the same as their parents.
However on the plus side: they'll still grow runner beans, you'll still have seed for free, and if you save seed of the best of what grows next year (early, or length of bean, whatever you choose) you'll end up with a variety that suits your conditions and requirements ideally

| They were all mixed together when I planted this year Lisa, and I have not cooked them seperately. I have enjoyed them all and am looking forward to more free food next year. I think I have been lucky this year, had 2 crops. Lots of rain....maybe next year will be different |
