I've got 2 lovely Brahmas but they are soooooo timid! Out of 22 birds they are the only ones that ever get feather pecked - particularly by my 3 Pekins Embarassed ... When they were little and the others were full of beans they would huddle together in the corner of the brooder tembling, facing away from the other chicks. I love them to bits as they are so lovely Very Happy and would have more like a shot!

Good to see a Brahma post... Razz
I have 2 gorgeous Brahmas - David and Victoria Peckham - they too are quite timid compared to the others - they've had some youngsters this year who stick together - but come feeding time, do get their beaks pushed out by the others... They are well known for being a placid breed - they make great pets and are a nice size to handle. My 2 are quite the celebrities around here and go visiting the neighbours. I'll have to try and post some photos - if I ever find out how to do it!
Regards,
Debbie

Nice Light Brahma. As you say the wet is a problem especially with the foot feathers. Good hackle feathers by the looks of them.

Just picked this lady up today, anyone know a good source for more in north west/north wales? Her friend was sold before I could buy them both, she has a trio of warrens for company but I'd like something more her size.

My first chickens and I have spent the entire evening just watching them. Fascinating to watch Smile

This may seem a silly question, I know she is a brahma but does anyone know what colour or type she would be described as.

Hi,

we got had a brahma and a silkie when they were very young and they
were very good friends, it turns out that the silkie was a boy, and as
we live in surburbia we had to take him back, we have now added 2
rhode island reds as we really wanted eggs, there is no fighting but
our brahma seems really sad and lonley, will she join the other 2
eventually? thanks Pippa

I would have thought she would join them eventually. Just watch the Rhodes aren't picking on her as they can be spitefull, whereas from what I have heard Brahmas are more placid- she is probably wary of them. What about getting another Brahma to keep her company ?
